Mission
Mission describes why we exist. "We exist to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world." But what is a disciple and how do we make them?
Vision
Vision describes how we make a disciple of Jesus Christ. Four words at HLUMC does this: Come, Connect, Grow, G.O.!

Come!
We believe Jesus is inviting us all to come into a relationship with Him. He said to some, "Come, follow me. " He said to others, "Come to me, all who are tired and I will give you rest." The greatest invitation we can accept is to come into a relationship with Jesus as our Savior. A Savior saves, and when we come into a relationship with Jesus as our Savior, he saves us from death and sin. Wow! We come to Jesus and on Sundays we come to church to celebrate that relationship. We do this as often as possible.
-
Connect!
We believe each person in our church should be connected to others. Some churches call this fellowship. It is God's design that we not do life alone. We want to encourage people to be known by others and be known by their name. A variety of events are created to help people get connected to each other.
-
Grow!
We believe that all disciples of Jesus must be growing in their awareness of God. The most common way to do this is through the study of God's Word with others. We make multiple opportunities available for this to happen.

G.O.!
We believe that God sends us out to GO and serve this world. Those two letters tell us what we are to be doing and where. G.O. is also an acronym for Global Outreach. A common word most churches use to describe this is Missions. We are in mission locally, regionally, nationally and globally. See our page on Global Outreach (a.k.a Missions). Jesus said, "GO, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them..." Matthew 28:19-20
